Is Michael Steel right? “2012 is off the table for Quitter Sarah Palin?”?

Countess Jodhaa Bai asked:

At a loss to explain Sarah Palin’s resignation after months of putting herself in the spotlight, many pundits — particularly conservatives who support her political career — have suggested the Alaska governor is working on a 2012 presidential run. But Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele said, in no uncertain terms, that it simply can’t happen.

“Not having talked to the governor, I take 2012 off the table right now simply because given everything she’s going through personally, dealing with the financial mess that all these ludicrous investigations have put her and Todd in, at the moment, I think she’s trying to focus on getting her house in order, her personal house in order,” Steele told FOX News.

“I look forward to welcoming her out and helping us in our campaigns this fall if and when shes ready to do that. Sarah Palin will be the ultimate arbiter of when she will engage and how she will engage,” he said.

A sizable number of Republicans — but less than a majority — seem to agree that it’s not a good idea. According to a Rasumussen poll, 40% think the resignation hurts her chances of winning the nomination in 2012.

Did the pre-debate hype make it easy for Palin to get through without a major mistake?

Sage Bluestorm asked:

To start with the format was changed at the insistence of the McCain campaign – less time for answers.

Then you see all the pundits saying that when a woman is in a debate with a man the man has to watch what he says or he comes across as condescending. So Joe Biden ends up just addressing John McCain and not criticizing Sarah Palin at all even though she attacked him several times on his record and she has so much of her own to attack.

Then a deal with Gwen Ifil writing a book that includes Barack Obama so she has to handle Palin with kid gloves. She let her get way off base answering the questions and use the debate as a rally instead of discussing issues.

Mark Sanford vs Obama in 2012 Presidential Election?

vs.

Sanford professes to be a firm supporter of limited government, and many pundits have described his views as being libertarian in nature. Most recently, he has embarked on an ambitious plan to reform methods of funding the state’s public education system. This would include measures such as school vouchers – aimed at introducing more competition into the school system as a means of fostering improvement. This would also allow more choice for parents who wish for their children to be educated in a religious or independent setting easier access at doing so. The plan, known as “Put Parents In Charge,” would provide around $2,500 per child to parents who chose to withdraw their children from the state’s public school system and instead send them to religious and other independent schools. Sanford has framed this plan as a necessary market based reform.

Could he challenge Obama in 2012? His ideas should, but does he have the mainstream support. If his friend Ron Paul throws his support to him he could be good!
