Unscientific Poll (Republicans only please): Nominee for 2012?

TRM asked:

I know it’s early, and we’re just getting used to the new President elect, but the party is going to be going one of two directions, and I would like to know what the attitude is.

A.) Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN)
B.) Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK)
C.) Fmr. Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA)
D.) Fmr. Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY)
E.) Fmr. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-GA)
F.) Someone else?

And to Democrats who want to answer: If you really have nothing better to do than skew the results of this unscientific poll, I guess there’s no helping you, so go ahead.

When the hyperpartisan Newt Gingrich says you’ve gone too far, you’ve really gone too far.

Gingrich has written a letter to the Republican National Committee condemning an RNC attack ad that tries to link Barack Obama to Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Gingrich insists the ad be pulled.

“I was saddened to learn that at a time of national trial, when a president-elect is preparing to take office in the midst of the worst financial crisis in over 70 years, that the Republican National Committee is engaged in the sort of negative attack politics that the voters rejected in the 2006 and 2008 election cycles,” Gingrich writes.

Gingrich calls the ad a “destructive distraction,” advising that “in a time when America is facing real challenges, Republicans should be working to help the incoming president succeed in meeting them, regardless of his party.”

“This ad is a terrible signal to be sending about both the goals of the Republican Party in the midst of the nation’s troubled economic times and about whether we have actually learned anything from the defeats of 2006 and 2008,” the former speaker concludes. “The RNC should pull the ad down immediately.”

truthseeker — The article clearly stated it was in a letter he sent to the RNC.

Dear Chairman Duncan,

I was saddened to learn that at a time of national trial, when a president-elect is preparing to take office in the midst of the worst financial crisis in over seventy years, that the Republican National Committee is engaged in the sort of negative, attack politics that the voters rejected in the 2006 and 2008 election cycles.

The recent web advertisement, “Questions Remain,” is a destructive distraction. Clearly, we should insist that all taped communications regarding the Senate seat should be made public. However, that should be a matter of public policy, not an excuse for political attack.

I can’t fit more in this edit window.

Sarah Palin

Though the US elections of this year have only just come to an end, there are already speculations about the possible candidates in the 2012 elections. The current president elect is Barack Obama and there is a fair chance of him contesting again in the next elections.

There have been a lot of discussions and debates about the plausible Republican candidates who will be contesting against him. One of the most obvious and talked about figure is Sarah Palin, Senator John McCain’s vice-presidential nominee this year in 2008. Alaska’s Governor, religious fundamentalist and hockey mom –Palin is a conservative republican who has been endorsed by many who think she fits the bill for the perfect republican, perfect president for the United States.

Governor Sarah Palin was born in Idaho and she is the first woman to become the governor of this state. She throws great importance to issues of oil and gas depletion and believes that the natural resources must be used sparingly and the general health and safety of nature must be ensured at all costs. She heads the NGA’s (National Governor’s Association) committee of Natural Resources. She also places value on the special children with special needs as she herself is the mother of a child with Down’s syndrome.

Regarding Palin’s chances in the 2012 elections, there have been mixed reactions and opinions. Some people are fully for Palin and believe that if she stands up for other issues just as much as she does for her religious principles, she has a great potential due to her wholehearted nature and instant popularity. Her name was on all lips just as soon as she was announced as the vice-presidential nominee this year and people found her to be refreshing and collected. However, some others do not agree with the fact that given all her positives, Palin will be able to survive the 2012 elections. The main reasons quoted by people are the strong position of Obama, to begin with. The country was ecstatic and overwhelmed by his knowledge and charisma. It is often brought into light that Sarah Palin has known to have answered questions incoherently during interviews and talk shows, thus displaying a certain lack of knowledge when it comes to issues regarding state and foreign policy. Her famous lines saying that the Iraq war is an act foreseen by god, for example have been widely criticized. Her other beliefs about abortions, sex education and teaching creationism in educational institutions have also been subject to constant disparagement. Her interview with Charlie Gibson and her views (or the lack thereof) about the Bush doctrine has also gotten her some bad publicity.

All in all Sarah Palin does not have many people in favor of her, even republicans. They believe that other republicans have more chances than she does. The people of the Republican Party have often called Palin, John McCain’s “mistake”. However the citizens who support her are fully for Sarah Palin as President in 2012 and believe in her abilities to make it as the first woman president of America. Whether that happens or not, what can be said with surety is that the glass ceiling has been broken, for one.

Vote for her in the Poll vs Obama

Vote for her as the Next candidate to run in 2012

I quit smoking, but sometimes I smoke!

After apparently ducking questions about his smoking from Barbra Walters, Obama let Tom Brokaw know that he has smoked some lately. I am really excited to see the President smoking that’s really cool to teach all the young kids of American the President smokes sometimes, and its okay if you do it sometimes. Let President-Elect Obama know it is not okay to smoke and he needs to come out saying he is quiting. Americans have enough problems paying for health care without having to worry about our President getting lung cancer and then we have one more thing for the Government too pay for!

It’s time too Quit smoking Obama grow a pair and take control of your vices, you are going to be the President set an Example!

Another case for a Presidential phone!

When President-elect Barack Obama called Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen at her Miami district office Wednesday, she hung up on him. Well obviously she thought it must be a prank, their are so many prankster radio host out there, they got Palin they can get anyone! Two things I see in this that need to be changed one no more pranking of the elected officials in America! I don’t care what they do in Canada or France but our radio hosts and DJ’s need to stop and if they can’t do it on their own then we should make laws against it. They are standing in the way of progress for the country, by wasting the presidents time, elected officials are so afraid they are going to be pranked they don’t talk on the phone anymore. Lets change this.

Secondly this is another point that we need the President too have a phone, Obama likes to pick up the phone and call someone to get something done. He does not want a staffer to do it or wait until he is the oval office. Get the man a phone with a Washington number and a caller id that says President Elect Obama!

Blackberry Security questioned by Obama administration

So apparently we like to keep our presidents uninformed of what is going on. The president-elect Obama is being told that he will have to give up his Blackberry when he takes office.  This is coming of the heels of Verizon employees looking at his call records, which got them all fired.  After reading about the Verizon fiasco one should come to a couple conclusions

  1. Don’t get Verizon
  2. Blackberry’s are not secure.
  3. The President-elect has Verizon?
  4. How does he move around all the time with the network people behind him!

At first glance I would think that also and really we do not want the president at risk all the time. Well once again I beg to differ from the majority here, the phone portion of the Blackberry is just like any other wireless phone, so let take that away from the president.  You can have a Blackberry with email only, and no phone calls active on it. You can also run the blackberry emails through the pentagons email server and it would be more secure then anything else.  I would like, no I would request that the president get emails from various members of his administration or the congress throughout the day. Why do we still try to keep the president so isolated, there is no security risk at all if there was then Blackberry stock should drop in price because they are security risks! I think most people should agree that if the president only listens to a couple people he surrounds himself with,  bad things happen(Iraq, bailouts etc…)

Obama real change is not letting people tell you what to do, here is what you say I want a Blackberry!

Should Obama carry a Blackberry while president?
