He has only been in office 5 weeks and he is already below 60% approval rating. His dissapproval numbers have doubled in one month. That is not typical of a new president.
I guess people are starting to realized that they have been dupped.
NY times is a VERY liberal newspaper and they are almost bankrupt so I would not look at them as a credible source. That is sort of like looking at the Rasmussens polls that have him at 55% but they are a right leaning poll.
Gallup is neutral so the best source.

It was going steadily down, and then for some reason right after september 12th the approve starting rising and the disapprove started lowering. What happened? Did I miss some big news event that day that changed public opinion?

For those fools who will inevitably say “polls are crap…”, this is a conglomeration of many polls listed on the right leaning website RCP, not just one poll.
Most of the polling data is coming from before the media appearances.

Now the liberal Gallup shows Obama’s approval at an all-time low, 53%. How will Dems explain this away?
Just a couple weeks ago, when Rasmussen had him at this level, Dems on Yahoo Answers scurried to explain that as being because Rasmussen is a right-wing poll (It’s not). So now that Gallup shows a rapid descent for Obama, how will the libs explain this away?

NJS, the problem with your argument is that Gallup polls samples of people whether they voted or not. So this is 53% support of the general population, voters and non-voters. Rasmussen polls only voters, and has the approval at 49%.
MR. JONE, he won with 53% of VOTERS. Gallup’s numbers include even non-voters. When only voters are polled, as in Rasumussen’s polls, his numbers are less than 50%.
