Rick Santorum 2012 Republican Presidential Candidate
Rick Santorum is both a former U.S. Representative and Senator from Pennsylvania who is now considering candidacy as a Republican Nominee for the 2012 Presidential Election. Santorum left private law practice after being elected to the House in 1990. He was re-elected in 1992 and while working in Congress, he exposed congressional corruption by exposing guilty parties in the House banking scandal. Then in 1994, he was elected to the Senate and again re-elected in 2000. While serving as Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, he was a frequent party spokesperson and directed the communications operations of Senate Republicans. In 2006, he was defeated in the U.S. Senate election by Democrat Bob Casey, Jr.
He then went back to practicing law where he provides clients strategic and business counseling services. He also serves as Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C. and works to identify, study, and heighten awareness of the threats to the West and America from an increasing range of radical Islamic states that violate religious liberty across the globe and cast a shadow over our own future. He also focuses on domestic threats to America’s freedom and moral foundation by addressing the long-term fiscal health and tax burden on families and entrepreneurs, and the challenges and threats to other foundational freedoms. He is also a contributor to Fox News, a columnist with the Philadelphia Inquirer, and the Friday host of a nationally syndicated radio program, “Morning in America”.
Considered a social and fiscal conservative, Santorum is also known for his confrontational style of politics. He has attracted both criticism and support from his outspoken and socially conservative views. He approves of legislation that would restrict or prohibit abortion and has expressed disapproval of homosexuality, but believes the public should decide these moral issues through its elected officials rather than unelected Supreme Court Judges. He has also actively addressed the issues of government accountability and welfare reform. Santorum believes that much of the world’s conflict stems from Islamic fascism rooted in Iran, yet opposes military action against the country and thought the most effective action against Iran would instead require America fighting for a strong Iraq, Israel, and Lebanon. He also opposed the Senate immigration reform proposal, stating the U.S. should act to enforce currently existing laws. He is against offering amnesty to illegal immigrants and believes they should be deported immediately after committing a crime. He also feels they should not receive any government benefits and supports the building of a security barrier along our border, along with increased Border Patrol Agents and National Guard Troops.
In 2009, Santorum stated, “I see that 2012 is a real opportunity for success.” He has made visits to Iowa and South Carolina and appearances with several political non-profit organizations. Then, earlier this year, he announced to his Political Action Committee supporters that he is considering a bid for the 2012 Presidential Election and told them that that conservatives need a candidate who can stand up for our views, as well as eloquently express a conservative vision for our country’s future. He has also cited concerns about the direction President Obama is taking our country and has publically urged GOP committee members and other Republicans to stand up against the growing reach and cost of government and a weak foreign policy that threatens our country.

What do you think of former Bush speechwriter David Frum’s analysis of the healthcare bill’s passage?
He’s predicted big gains for the conservative entertainment industry (Fox News, Rush et al.) but long term losses for the Republican Party. Here’s a link to the controversial blog post:

So Fox News caught in a lie huh? What do people think of this so called honest network now? details inside->?
Fox News again accused of airing misleading video
For the second time in just over a week, Fox News is coming under fire for misusing old news footage. The latest flap is leading some people to charge that the cable news network is intentionally misleading its audience, while Fox claims a “production error.”
Wednesday’s incident occurred when Fox News host Gregg Jarrett mentioned that a Sarah Palin appearance and book signing in Grand Rapids, Michigan had a massive turnout. As footage rolled of a smiling and waving Palin amidst a throng of fans, Jarrett noted that the former Republican vice-presidential candidate is “continuing to draw huge crowds while she’s promoting her brand-new book,” adding that the images being shown were “some of the pictures just coming in to us…. The lines earlier had formed this morning.”
However, the video used in the segment was from a 2008 McCain/Palin campaign rally. In response to the minor uproar that arose after clips of Jarrett’s report hit the Internet, Fox senior vice-president of news Michael Clemente issued an initial statement saying, “This was a production error in which the copy editor changed a script and didn’t alert the control room to update the video.”
On Thursday afternoon, Fox News issued an on-air apology delivered by host Jane Skinner:
Yesterday we told you about Sarah Palin kicking off her book tour and then we spoke to Sean Hannity about an interview that he did with former Governor Palin. When introducing the segment we showed you footage of people lining up in Michigan for a book signing that evening. In the tease before the segment, the tease to commercial, we told you how those people were already lining up to meet Palin. The problem is we didn’t show you the video we were actually referencing. Instead we mistakenly aired what’s called “file tape” of Sarah Palin. We didn’t mean to mislead anybody in that tease. It was a mistake, and for that we apologize.
The current mishap comes on the heels of a controversy sparked last week when footage from a conservative rally held over the summer was played on “Hannity” during a segment on a more recent rally. During the clip, host Sean Hannity marveled over the large turnout for a Washington, DC protest. The Daily Show later pointed out that there seemed to be some inconsistencies with the video shown on Hannity’s show, namely that the atmospheric conditions seemed to vary from shot to shot. Hannity later apologized on the air for what he called “an inadvertent mistake.”
Barely a week into Palin’s blitz to promote “Going Rogue,” media coverage is becoming its own story. Fox News rival MSNBC caught heat last week for using altered images of Sarah Palin on the air, for which they later apologized. On Wednesday, Yahoo! News reported Newsweek’s defense of their latest controversial cover, which Palin herself blasted as “sexist.”

Thumbs up for everyone as i don’t favor any of the News Networks.

What’s so bad about the Sarah Palin Newsweek cover?
She is a beautiful woman, with or without photo retouching. I am a card carrying feminist and I think that the picture is beautiful. I think that the text on the cover is more offensive than the picture itself. I think the coverage on FOX news is hilarious because they are basically saying, “How dare Newsweek show this beautiful woman as she really is!”.
No Obama 2012
Why are people still accusing Sarah Palin?
That her daughter gave birth to Trent? Home videos have clearly shown her pregnant with Trent. And even political officials have said how she went into labor after a speech. Why do people still believe in this tabloid crap? My source is a documentary about her on Fox News.
I do not want you opinion on her! Keep your party differences aside and answer the question, please.
Yes I know, Fox News. Whatever.
Vote Palin
I thought republicans wer FOR free speech. So why can’t David Letterman talk about Sarah Palin’s daughter?
So Rush Limbaugh can spout off about every horrid thing that pops into his head but when Letterman makes a lame joke about Sarah Palin’s 18 year old daughter, who thrust herself into the spotlight by going on talk show after talk show speaking on behalf of abstinence, he gets chewed out by everyone….
I thought republicans and Fox News were for free speech?

Why does fox news think that SNL has to be fair in politcs?
I watched a Fox and Friends clip on youtube and they were talking about how unfair SNL was being with all the Sarah Palin skits. Why does a comedy show have to be fair in politics esp. when Fox is not balanced themselves?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnGBdKO5gEc

Do you believe FOX news excuse for the Saraj Palin book siging trick?
FOX news aired a video of a large crowd gathered around Sarah Palin explaining it was occuring right now and it was a tremendous turn out for her book signing event. It was later determined that the FOX story was fake and that the pictures shown were not of the book signing but shots taken last fall when she was running for Vice President. FOX news explained they had made a mistake blaming it on one of the technicians. Another similar incident used videos of various events patched to appear as a single event; the deception was exposed when climatic conditions between shots were inconsistent. Why does FOX talk show people think they have to fake things or try to trick viewers? It is hard to believe what we hear on the radio or see on TV between the FOX talk show people and radios Lush Limpbaugh. Do you think the patch work videos and the book signing errors were just mistakes or is this normal operating procedures for talk show hosts?
Please do not get me wrong – Nazeem says it happens all the time; I feel most of the FOX media people are great and refrain from dishonest and misleading information. Some however, like Hannity and his band of chanters, are about as unamerican as they come.

Why do all the Fox news women anchors look like pornstars?
I’m guessing an audience made up of 90% middle aged white males.
That explains a lot about Sarah Palin’s popularity in that group too.

The link is to a Steve Chapman column who makes the argument pretty eloquently. And Chapman is no liberal…. he’s a libertarian.

Scarborough and Mika were about to start balling this morning as they talked about poor poor Sarah Palin, attacked by the media…
