Prove Harry Reid wrong?
Everyone is up in arms about Reid’s comments. I agree that his remarks were racist but they were also true. Obama’s skin color- but more importantly, his white mother- made him more palatable to white Americans. His speech played its part as well.
Many people are saying that’s wrong and that he would have been elected based on his qualifications regardless of his heritage, his skin color and his speech.
I’m thinking and thinking, but I can’t come up with an example of another Black person who has more stereotypical looks and speech, and is not an athlete, who has enjoyed wide-reaching acceptance by white Americans other than Oprah.
Can you provide some examples?
Isn’t Colin Powell of the Obama mold? He’s light in complexion (lighter, even, than Obama) and well-spoken.

- Colin Powell – Was the GOP’s favorite ‘minority’ UNTIL he gave a glowing endorsement for Obama.
-Sarah Palin – Appeared out of nowhere (like that bridge) to become the VP candidate. Disappeared off the scene a mere 9 weeks later because she went ‘rouge’.
- Michael Steele – Appointed (anointed?) to chair the GOP on the heels of Obama being elected President.
Just curious, are you THAT desperate to get a minority/woman elected?

I believe that Charlie Crist, Governor of Florida, would be a good choice because he is a strong conservative and very popular in his state.
However, Colin Powell is a successful General and his experience and credentials are undeniable.
