Wow Sarah Palin has been found guilty of “Abuse of Power” and that she violated Alaska Ethics Law. Is this tru?

bad news asked:

Is this a criminal violation?

Or did she just show incredibly poor judgment?

Oh and guess what Fox news is now saying and i quote ” We should really focus on the issues”

Whenever i watch Fox News i feel like im getting a check up from my Proctologist.

Now Fox News wants to focus on the issues. Someone at a McCain campaign rally yells “Kill Him”. I turned to Fox News to get the story and there is not one word mentioned about it.

Sarah Palin is found guilty of “Abuse of Power” and Fox News yells Acorn !!!, Acorn !!!, Acorn !!! (code for those blacks are stealing the election)

Watching Fox News is like watching Russian or East German news late at night on Public television when i was a kid.

Speak truth to power.

It does look like a sick joke of a report to be honest.

The opinion of a hired gun?

    Quote:

Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.

The Branchflower Report is a series of guess and insupportable conclusions drawn by exactly one guy, and it hasn’t been approved or adopted or endorsed by so much as a single sub-committee of the Alaska Legislature, much less any kind of commission, court, jury, or other proper adjudicatory body.
It contains no new bombshells in terms of factual revelations. Rather, it’s just Steve Branchflower’s opinion — after being hired and directed by one of Gov. Palin’s most vocal opponents and one of Alaska’s staunchest Obama supporters — that he thinks Gov. Palin had, at worst, mixed motives for an action that even Branchflower admits she unquestionably had both (a) the complete right to perform and (b) other very good reasons to perform.

there are no charges.there won’t be.the person she fired asked for her husband to come to him.hardly breaking the criminal law.democrats are the only ones who find fault with this.they are use to defending alcoholic wife beating child abusers.

    Not true. Nice try though.
    Here is the conclusion:

“I find that, although Walt Monegan’s refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Gov. Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as a commissioner of public safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercie of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.”

It’s a farce,,,there is nothing in the report,, but I believe some charges should be filed against the senator that led this try.

The Panel found that she had not violated any laws.

To placate the Obama supporters, they held that she had violate the State Ethics Code (but it appears that the Code required her actions be taken for financial gain, and this was not true).

I LOVE your analysis of Fox News.
According to the Alaska commission who investigated it, she was found guilty of allowing her husband to utilize the tools of her office, e.g. phone, email etc. to put pressure on people to have her BIL fired. Apparently, from the report, people who were on the same level as BIL were sent messages, phoned etc in an effort to discredit him.

Of course the Republicans say it isn’t so…but the people who did the investigation have said she’s guilty.

Yeah, run a google search “Palin inquiry site:state.ak.us”

No published documents on the inquiry.

Review the articles, no quotes from any documents. No specifics at all.

These “Palin found guilty” articles read like pure propaganda.

The general way these kinds of situations work is that the legislature has an ethics committee to oversee the ethical behavior of the legislative body.

That committee has no power or authority over the legislative branch of government. In fact, the act of a legislative committee issuing a report on the executive branch is probably unconstitutional since it would imply that the legislative body has authority over the executive branch of government.

A committee could determine that a vote of impeachment is necessary under some specific circumstances. If impeached the executive could undergo a trial. Impeachment occurs in the House and the trial occurs in the Senate. If convicted of a crime, declared guilty, in a Senate trial the executive could be removed depending on the sentence passed during the trial.

There was no impeachment. There was no trial. No impeachment.

Essentially, if a report was issued this is purely a partisan political move having no authority what so ever.

I turned on CNN to get an early report of the stock market, and there running under the news were the words,” Sarah Palin found Guilty of Abuse of Power”. Sarah Palin was also infomed that she should not destroy her emails in regards to any state business in Alaska.
This will hit all the big newspaper today. Go to the Washington Post, The Times, and you can read the story. Or go to Google and type in beside it—-
Superior Court Judge Peter Michalski gives Palin Guilty verdict.
