Will Sarah Palin’s words about Obama palling around with terrorists backfire on the McCain campaign?

Kevin S asked:

By claiming that Democrat Barack Obama is “palling around with terrorists” and doesn’t see the U.S. like other Americans, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin targeted key goals for a faltering campaign. Do you think this will back-fire on the McCain campaign?

yes! mccain said he wanted a clean campaign. this is just a ruse to distract from the real issues (of which palin is clueless).

  2. TruthSeeker says:

    sarah palin

No. Americans deserve to know about Obama’s radical agenda.

  3. Side Face says:

Yes, because most Americans already know about that guy. And most INDEPENDENTS hate negative campaigning.

    Focus on the issues

  4. Rastaman says:

    CNN

No. William Ayers and ACORN are current threats to all Americans.

Definitely! With polls showing McCain’s Presidential hopes falling sharply, Republicans are stepping up their Obama smear campaign (worse than what they were doing).

It is also predicted to backfire since most Americans hate such negative tactics.

Republicans will of course eat it up, but they’re already anti-Obama, so irrelevant.
It is predicted to drive the important undecided voters further away from McCain.

Watch out — it’s getting ugly (er).

I am ANOTHER registered Republican voting for Obama/Biden because they are so far superior to Palin/McCain.

I think Obama will probably use the same words as mega-ron used above. In a time of national crisis McCain and Palin have nothing positive to offer the people but hit and run smears and under the belt jabs. This is their true character showing in their hour of desperation.

It’ll backfire because how many more terrorists can the McCain folks try to pin on Obama? It’s “still” 30 more days to Nov 4, not “only” 30 more days. it’s going to get really old long before then. They will have shot their one big wad, which wasn’t big to begin with.

Muf E, I’m another registered republican who’s going over to Obama-Palin because of McCain’s abysmal performance and choice of clown Palin as his running mate. He’s making conservatives look like a party of fools.

With the economy tanking they better come up with some new material because people want to hear about how they plan to fix it, not some false accusations about people back in the 70’s. It’s going to backfire big time.

  9. Augusta Golf Packages

I certainly hope so, especially since she’s married to a terrorist.

    Alaskan Independence…. hmmmmmmm

  10. Golf Advice

No. McCain and Palin need to stop worrying about the race card and start exposing Obama for the man he really is. Time to tell it like it is.

Palin is truly a “BRIDGE TO NOWHERE”

  13. sarah palin

I’m confused………why would pointing out pure non debatable facts backfire on anyone? It being the truth, the only backfire is that Dems can’t take the truth. If the shoe were on the other foot, I wonder if you would treat the story differently?

  14. Debra E says:

    MattBreedenNow

No it will not backfire. The liberal left-wing media has been sweeping this under the rug. The public needs to know about Obama’s dubious associates.

  15. Obama

I can’t forsee it helping them very much. Clinton already vetted everything about Ayers to the press in her attempt to win the nomination.

While Obama has held back on McCain’s past ties to Charles Keating and the racist US Council for World Freedom organization.

  16. CharlieG says:

    CNN

Why? It is true and Obama even admits it. William Ayers even said he didn’t do enough bombing! Unbelievable. I don’t know why Obama would associate himself with such a person; and if you vote for someone like that than you deserve this loser Obama.

  17. rotorhead says:

    Obama News

Obama HAS been palling around with a (domestic) terrorist. Obamamites have been screaming “racist” and calling it dirty politics but NO ONE is denying it or offering up an explanation or clarification.

  18. FakeGods says:

    CNN

Palin’s incendiary charge draws media and voter attention away from the worsening economy. It also comes after McCain supported a pork-laden Wall Street bailout plan in spite of conservative anger and his own misgivings.

“It’s a giant changing of the subject,” said Jenny Backus, a Democratic strategist. “The problem is the messenger. If you want to start throwing fire bombs, you don’t send out the fluffy bunny to do it. I think people don’t take Sarah Palin seriously.”

  19. Steam says:

    Obama News

Just because of McCains long history in the Senate There is no way he is going to be able to dodge negative attacks. And he has a lot of questionable associations. He opened a door he probably should not have.

  20. shawn g says:

no it is the truth he has palled around with a known terrorist. Peopl are to blind to see it and will get what they deserve if they vote this chucklehead into office.

  21. Pyar says:

Yes …She needs to realize that there isn’t a truly clean politician in this campaign … especially her !

  22. Nurse Molly says:

    2012 Obam Polls

It very well could. 99% of what she says is spoon fed by the McCain campaign organizers. Palin is their puppet parrot.

Underneath all that hair is an IQ the size of GW. Bush, and she’s growing an ego to match!

  23. darrin b says:

    With smart Americans, it will.

The Dow Jones plummeted under 10,000 points today.

In September alone, 159,000 jobs were lost, bringing the total of jobs lost for the year to over 750,000.

People are losing their homes, cars, retirement accounts, etc.

And all Palin and McCain can offer America is dirt on a man when Obama was a child?

Wake up, America. We deserve better than this.

The last time America fell for this October swift boating nonsense, it cost us over $700 billion dollars.

We won’t make that mistake again.

  24. 2012 Obama

They already have. The majority of the American people recognized the attack for what it was–a blatant appeal to racism and bigotry. Palin just cost McCain a few tens of thousand s of votes.

I sincerely hope she keeps it up!

Lies always have a way of coming back to haunt . I think the American voter is on to McSame and Winky. The polls are beginning to tell the tale Obama should have a double digit lead by the weekend !

  26. 2012 Obam Polls

Backfire? Perhaps, but it is the only thing they have left. Get ready for 30 days of the Republican smear campaign. I hope they keep it up. It’s really helping rally the Democratic base.

  27. Calvin says:

    2012 Obama

She is the convincer of no one. She lacks all credibility to criticize much of anything. Up until the debate even her own party did not think her qualified for this office. It is a silly move on the part of McCain to put her out there like that. It comes off as foolishly arrogant.

If McCain wants to put out negative information he should get others (Romney, Bennett, etc) to do so. They have more creditability in this regard.

The McCain campaign has preformed very poorly as to strategy. To do this now looks very desperate.

  28. theHoundDawg says:

    Obama News

    Yes, as:

    1) The allegations are ridiculous. The questionable activities of William Ayers happened when Sen. Obama was 8 years old, and Ayers has totally redeemed himself, to be a leader of the Chicago community, even receiving accolades from Mayor Daley; and

    2) There are real, valid, questionable associations in McSenile’s past (not to mention Peabrainlin’s), that will cause him real problems when further exposed by the Obama campaign.

  29. Pattyboy says:

    Obama News

Yes it will. This is supposed to distract the voters from the real issues McCain knows that his VP choice was a not a smart move and now he is using smear tactics in his campaign which he said he would run a clean campaign Politicians can not trust any of them They will stab you in the back to save there miserable rotten useless hides

  30. Jay says:

    Augusta Golf Tickets

Here’s the thing: the McCain campaign is being run by people who want to be Karl Rove.

Rove knew how to take big changes and win. He knew how to orchestrate a complete plan and make it work.

The McCain camp is trying hard to do this same thing, but they simply aren’t as talented as Rove. They take big chances, but they take the wrong ones. And they execute them in the wrong way.

What even more harmful to their ability to win on these sorts of attacks is that there is already so much misinformation out there about Obama (the Anti-Christ?!? Puh-leaze!) that it’s all becoming noise. When someone significant and truthful comes up, it doesn’t get the credit that it maybe deserves.

  31. yutsnark says:

    Obama Polls

I don’t know, but I’m watching this with interest.

Normally I’m very bad at predicting public response. For example, I never believed the “swift boat” tactics would fool anybody, but look at what happened to Kerry.

So now, McCain and Company are pulling out all the stops for a last ditch orgy of hate and fear. Is there any reason to think that this tactic has outlived its usefulness?

Well, first of all, the attacks this time are lacking in focus. Unless they truly have an “October Surprise” up their sleeves, what we’re hearing is merely a reprise of last year’s “Greatest Smears,” with the volume cranked up.

Second, and probably more important: The smear strategy will remind people of George W. Bush. And that’s the last thing McCain needs.

I belive that every candidate will do their best to serve the country, but some actions will benefit specific citizens. It’s up to the voters to decide if Palin is really the best person for the white house.

  33. Obama News

Yes, because it exposes Palin’s own involvement with the Alaska Independence Party. They’re an anti-American secessionist group whose founder was killed while trying to buy plastic explosives on the black market. He’s on record saying things like “The fires of Hell are glaciers compared to my hate for the American government”.

Todd Palin, Sarah’s husband, has been a member of this party for years, and Sarah’s participated in their conventions. Here’s a video of her agreeing with their platform and telling them to “keep up the good work!”

But she’s not an official member of the party, so it’s all good right?

But wait… here’s a video of the Vice Chairman of the party talking about how they want to “infiltrate” the government by having Palin pose as a Republican in order to get elected:

Do we really want someone involved with anti-American groups as Vice President?

  34. metalikidd7 says:

  36. Frank says:

    Obama Polls

Probably not! Some independents were probably waiting to hear something like that to help them decide. Right now McCain and Obama are romancing the independents and undecided; McCain is using the angry/aggressive approach and Obama is using the civilized/intellectual approach.
